Product Description
Strapping the Pearl Izumi Race II road cycling shoes on your feet is like putting a turbocharger on a car. The 1:1 Power Plate is extra super stiff to ensure that 100% of your power and energy is transmitted from your legs into the bike's forward motion. They're built for power, efficiency and speed on the road. And we have to admit, the distinctive styling doesn't look half bad either. Carbon fiber and Select Grade nylon sole plate for lightweight stiffness and durability Ultra-low 7mm stack height increases power transfer and makes you feel more connected to the bike Direct-Vent helps cool your foot by letting airflow through the sole Longitudinal Arch Support improves pedaling efficiency, support and stability for optimized power transfer EVA foam and rubber heel pad makes it easier to walk off the bike Select 1:1 Heel Cup with Molded Power Band prevents heel slippage 1:1 Anatomic Buckle Closure follows the natural shape of your instep to eliminate hotspots and pressure areas Adjustable buckle mounting lets you customize the shoe fit

I've bough this item to use it manly on spinning classes.Although I've never used bike shoes, I can state that this product makes easier the cycling practice. It forces you to use some muscles that we do not train normaly. So it is very good for conditioning, aerobic trainning practice. When I have the oportunity, I will use it outdoors! One note: the product does not come with the cleat.

I'm not a very serious cyclist, am not racing but have certain expectations about bike hardware and gears, and Pearl iZumy has never been disappointing so far. I have another pair of shoes (Mavic) that are much lighter and probably a better fit for competitive biking, I wouldn't rate these ones here as 'Race Road'. These are thick, heavy shoes. That being said these these Pearl iZumi shoes have a couple advantages:- Leather looks and feels better than plastic and keeps your feet at a more constant temperature- The under shoe is thick and very rigid, which I really like. In tough climbs you can feel you can push and pull very hard on these shoes, I use these shoes with zero degree Look cleats and have the feeling that pedals are extensions to my legs!- They look globally good. They are a bit overpriced compared to what competitors such as Shimano ask for a similar product, but they ARE a bit better so if you're willing to pay 20% more for a 10% product (which is my case when it comes to biking) these are for you!

I am perhaps not the one to say, as these are the first clip-in bike shoes I have owned. But after my test rides, the improved speed and function of having actual shoes attached to pedals is clear now. And these shoes are very adjustable. No problems after several test 20 mile rides. I will soon buy another pair of shoes for a different bike and pedal set up but this seems to be a fine pair of shoes. I bought 46.5 and perhaps the 47 size might be more perfect but these are very close. And 46.5 would correspond to my exact US sizing.
