Product Description
Giro turned the mid-level shoe market on its head with the Apeckx Shoe. New for 2012, the Apeckx takes design cues from Giro's high-end shoes, but packs them smartly into a more affordable package. The biggest difference is the sole; the Apeckx utilizes DuPont's Zytel nylon in the place of Easton's carbon fiber, but Zytel has been engineered to provide similar performance to carbon fiber, with a longer fatigue life. Ultimately, this means you get similar performance to carbon fiber for a longer period of time. Shoe felt comfortable right out of the box. Straps are comfortable and easy to adjust even when riding. I did get some skin abrasion areas around the top strap but I guess this is due to excess cycling(2 to 4 hours of ride). THis is my first cycling shoe so I don't have good source to be a good judge of the product but from one month of use, it seems like a good shoe for beginners like myself. The bottom shell feels very solid and didn't feel any distortion to the shoe when twisting to release from pedals. Also I tried once riding without and sock and it felt comfortable through out the ride.

Nicely constructed shoe. Different sites have different sizing guides. I normally take a 48 in a European sized shoe, (Size 13 US), Amazon's chart seems to be more accurate then the Amazon directed site I used. 46-47 seems to be right for a size 13.
