I purchased these road bike shoes after my other pair of 12-year-old Shimanos finally saw their last days. I was happy with the old pair, so much so that I remained confident another pair of Shimanos would suffice to replace the previous ones. I have to say, I am by no means a professional cyclist - I commute to work and sometimes complete long organized rides. Otherwise I do not participate in any serious "Tour De France" type road races. Because of this, I just wanted a comfortable pair of cycling shoes that wouldn't make my feet go numb and take a large chunk of cash. So far, these shoes have delivered. They have been very comfortable, and have worked well with my Shimano SPD pedals and cleats. I really prefer the velcro straps to a top buckle mounting to remove pressure points and these do just that but still feel snug and tight. Also, these shoes are somewhat stiff, with just a little bit of bend. I feel like am I am getting maximum energy output to pedal with them. I don't know the specific weight of these shoes but they are relatively light, but most likely heavier that some more expensive road cycling shoes. Lugging a few extra ounces on my feet hasn't been a problem for me however. The one issue I have is the open air vent in the bottom front of the shoe. Direct air ventilation is a nice feature to have during the summer, but if you live somewhere cold and wet you will not enjoy the ride as your toes will go numb from the chilly air and water. All in all the Shimano SH-R077 sport cycling shoe delivered exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price.

Not a lot to say. They're shoes. My best advice is to buy big. I'm a 10.5 US mens so I ordered a size 44, which should have been a perfect fit. Not so much. Toes cramped up in the end. Returned to Bike Nashbar (great customer service, BTW) and got in a size 45. Fit like a glove. Took a couple of rides to figure out exactly how tight I wanted them (not too tight for me, thank you) and since then I've been very pleased. I've only had them for two weeks, but I've put about 250 miles on them and so far so good. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an inexpensive shoe but needs something comfortable for long rides.

I've used these for both SPD and SPD-SL pedals and they work well. The straps are solid and there is good ventilation.Good:- stylish- durable- good ventilation- works with both types of road cleatsBad:- not great for cold weather -- even with toe covers they are so breezy that your toes still get cold- rubber pads wear off pretty fast if you ever put them under wear
