5True To Size.. for once..
By DB BluBlock Productions
For once I found a SBD shoe that was true to size. I wear 10.5 and have pretty wide feet, but the 45 fits perfectly. These come with cleats, so no need to purchase a set separately. There isn't much to say about these except that they are excellent Shimano quality and feel great! The mesh material breaths well and the laces are nice (not a fan of the clip over style for mountain biking). They are very light weight and the soles feel nice and sturdy. I purchased them with Shimano PD-M324 Clipless/Clip Pedals and they work together beautifully. The only complaint I had was that you could feel the cleat slightly through the pad in the shoe after a few hours of riding. You don't feel the ridges or anything, just the hardness.. so I simply put 4 small pieces of electrical tape over it for extra padding and it worked like a champ. These are priced well too, so definitely pick up a pair if you want some decent SBD mountain bike shoes.EDIT 09/17/2012: After a few months and about 700 miles of singletrack.. these shoes are still amazing! I cannot express how amazing these were in 108 degree heat.. cool and breathable to the point that my feet never got uncomfortable. I did have to add a new liner because I simple wore it out. Best part of these shoes is that you can hose them out and let them dry.. then BAM! Just like new! Here is the only drawback. Now that the weather has reached mid 60's (F) some mornings.. if you hit dew in high grass or splash some mud/water up onto your feet the ride can get pretty chilly realllly quick. Looks like I need to find a new pair of fall/winter shoes.. but no doubt about it, these will be ready to go next spring.. and more than likely will last for a couple seasons to come.I am actually so impressed with these shoes that I changed my 4/5 star rating to a full on 5! Excellent Shimano quality here!

4Good comfortable shoe for the price.
By Erik
I ordered this inexpensive touring shoe because I am just trying out the clip-less pedal concept and did not know if I would like it. Before this for 30 years I had been using "rat trap" pedals, but I now live in Florida and often wear sandals for short trips. I could not do this with rat trap pedals because they cut into my feet when in the cage, and dragged on the ground when flipped over. Using Shimano PD-M324 clipless/clip pedals I have the best of both worlds. One side is a standard flat pedal, flip it over and it is a clipless pedal. My riding is casual recreational and I need a shoe I could walk around in as well as ride and this pedal/shoe combination fit the bill. For riding the shoes are perfect for me, they give enough support, are easy to lace up and clip into and out of the pedal. For walking around they are OK but not great, they do not flex enough, after all they were meant to give support for bike riding. The downside is that I definitely feel the clips while walking and they show wear even after just a little walking. I cannot wear them around the house on terrazzo floors. I have not been able to try out clip covers yet so cannot comment on those. In summery, the Shimano Mountain Touring Shoe SH-MT23 was the right choice for me and recommend them for casual use.

3Shoe laces not a good idea deep cleat recess excellent for walking
By Tom W
Shoe laces get stuck in the gears sometimes besides that they fit ok and are fairly stiff. Walking around is much better than expected the cleats are recessed far enough so you’re not walking on the shoe and not the cleat all the time.
