For the 2012 season DMTs top of the line PRISMA shoe has been updated with some impressive new technology and has become the all new PRISMA 2.0. The upper is comprised of an extremely light microfiber combined with strategically placed panels of mesh that provide ample ventilation, slip-lasted construction is utilized to secure the upper to the sole. This type of construction yieldsa lightweight shoe without requiring a mid-sole board and allows the upper to wrap around your foot providing a sock-like fit without irritating seams. The anatomic external heel counter securely but gently holds the riders heel in place, and prevents any slippage. The completely new ATOP closure is very easy to operate and is exclusive to DMT in the cycling shoe industry. Turning theATOPs dial clockwise rewinds the wire and causes the shoes upper to envelop the riders foot. Providing a perfect fit as the tension of the wire remains consistent along the top of the entire shoe. To release the wires tension and remove the shoe a simple 45 turn counter clockwise unlocks the ATOP system. The PRISMA is available with the newly re-designed DMT CX Carbon fiber sole which now has a replaceable heel strike pad or the Speedplay Approved sole. The new ASL insole offers amazing breathability, great arch support, and the ability to achieve a custom fit through its heat molding capabilities. I've owned my DMT Prisma shoes for about a month, have put about 350 miles on with them and I'm extremely pleased so far. My Prisma shoes are comfy, unbelievably stiff and the DMT ATOP dial-in cable system (similar to those on Lake cycling shoes) creates a snug fit without generating pressure points. I've just recently converted over to Speedplay pedals and finding a shoes that didn't require an adapter seemed to a wise idea. The Prisma shoes attach my foot closer to the pedal axel than anything I've ridden before and this combined with the insanely stiff carbon sole gives an efficient power transfer unlike anything in my experience. The other thing I really like are the heat-moldable insoles which come with these shoes. The process is simple...pop the insoles into the oven for a few minutes, wait until the sticker on them turns dark grey, pop them into your shoes and tighten for 15 minutes. The result is a custom insole which secures my foot very nicely and is extremely comfortable. The final thing I like about these Prisma shoes is the ventilation. I'm coming from a six year old pair of SIDI Zeta carbon shoes and they didn't ventilate nearly as well as these DMT's. Conversely, this also means that shoe covers will be a necessity earlier in the Autumn but that's no big deal. Finally, the sizing seemed to perfectly matchup for me. I have a size 10.5 US foot and have been riding in 44.5 EU sized Sidis for a long time. My Prisma shoes are also 44.5 EU and they fit my foot perfectly. Snug but comfortable, just like a good cycling shoe should be. If you have the money and want a great pair of high-end shoes, you can't go wrong with the DMT Prisma.
