Nice shoe, but not so good service, and a reason to buy via a shop

This is my second pair of Lake MX330's both purchased online, and one via Amazon, which had the only pair I could find in my size.The shoe is an innovative bolo-laced design that feels great on the foot, and is easy to walk on - important because I use them for bike commuting (Madone 5.0 with SPD pedals) and frequently have to dismount at intersections, and to perform gymnastics to avoid pedestrians, dogs, etc..My comments should also apply to the new MX331 where the bolo knob is repositioned from the back to the side. To me that's an odd place to put it (which is why I again bought the MX330), but perhaps it was a good idea because it is less exposed. The knob on my first pair was smashed in an accident. Afterwards, the knob looked repairable - I had the parts and nothing appeared broken) but neither I nor the guys at the bike shop could figure it out or could reach anyone at Lake to find out if or how. Being profligate about biking (but little else) and perhaps a bit foolish (why reward a company for nonexistent service?) I bought a second pair. I would have bought them via revolution except they don't sell Lake.The new shoes had a minor but annoying manufacturing defect. One of the cleat screw receivers was stripped. Because I couldn't get help from Lake I eventually caulked the hole. In the big scheme of things is this a problem? No. I will happily ride and walk on three cleats and one caulked hole. However, is it a problem that Lake is hard to reach for service? Yes!

Very nice shoes....

I had been wearing a pair of Sidi's for about 5 years and all of sudden starting getting hot spots on my feet and nothing I did seem to help. So I gave a new pair of shoes a try. I liked these shoes out of the box. First day went on a 45 mile ride without any problems. I would recommend these shoes.

Excellent shoes for the price

I purchased these shoes about 2 weeks ago. I was looking to upgrade from a pair of old Sidi SPD MTB shoes that I've had for a while. I was always a bit reluctant to move from SPD to SPD-SL cleats for various reasons (weight, cost, mobility, etc). However, I decided the pros were finally worth it. Read a lot of reviews about these shoes and decided to pull the trigger on them. They are very nice for the price. The shoes only have the SPD-SL cleat bolts, unlike the R087 that have both SPD and SPD-SL bolts. The are very light shoes and seem to be well built. They come with 1 pair of cleats that have some degree of float on them. Also, the strap makes a HUGE difference, especially pulling up hill. I really like the larger platform pedals. Giantnerd was very helpful as well.

Quality and Comfort and Carbon

Got a very good deal elsewhere, so my opinion may be enhanced by the bargain, but wow what a comfortable, quality shoe. Stiff carbon sole and a really comfortable single-unit synthetic leather upper- probably my favorite latch/tightening-system of the several I've tried.I'm new to clipless so I did a lot of in-store research. I tried Giro's 200-range shoe and it was comparable in every way- comfort, quality, style, carbon and latch system, tried Specialized's 160-range and the toe box was way too tight for my hobbit feet, every style of Serfas was uncomfortable, then fell in love with the Bontrager RL at 175 because of the wide toe box but on sale, or at another vendor you can get the Elite 3 for about that, and the PI styling is much better imo. Works with Speedplay zero, latch system is excellent, snug quality upper, carbon sole, and dead-sexy = highly recommend.

Great shoes for the price

This is my third pair of Northwave shoes. I've been very happy with all of them. The soles are stiff, and the fit is good. I have pretty wide feet, and there's plenty of room. These replaced some SIDI Genius 2s that I bought in '92. The ratchet system doesn't give as secure a fit as the SIDIs do, but they are also half the price.

LG Carbon X-Lite shoe

Really cant say enough good things about these shoes. They were incredibly comfortable even without the need to be worn in. They are super light, very breathable with the cold inserts, pretty warm with the hot inserts, provide awesome support even for a rider like me that's 205lbs, Overall the best shoe I've owned to date and it was an incredible price here on amazon considering its $250+ at the local shop.
