Sidi Dominator 5 Bike Shoe - Men's Lorica/Black, 48.0/Narrow
Product Description
Some people say you could have two pair of shoes for the price of a pair of Sidi's. We say the Italians at Sidi craft bicycling shoes three times better than anyone else. The Dominator 5's hand-stitched Lorica synthetic leather molds to your foot just like the real thing, but stands up to abrasion, water, and the test of years like solid granite. Cooling mesh inserts expel hot air like politicians during an election year, and the stiff composite midsole transmits power precisely while flexing just enough to make a 24-hour enduro feel like a spin around the block. One-hand adjustable ratchets allow you to adjust your instep fit without even clipping out, and Sidi's patented High Security straps have interlocking plastic teeth to keep them from slipping mid-hammer.Product Features

You know those very few purchases in life that continually amaze you with their value? For me, one of them is a $2 clock radio I bought at a thrift store years ago that is still sounds great. Another is my SIDI Dominator shoes. I thought they were pricey then, but almost 10 years later they are still great. They have been through thousands of miles of mud and rain and rock scrambling and crashes. They have been ridden across the country once. They have stretched a little bit and they look like I pulled them out of a dumpster, but on close examination there is not a single stitch broken. The most bombproof piece of gear I've ever owned. I'm not sure how the other reviewer thought the toe isn't durable. Maybe if you regularly stick your foot into a lawnmower. Will absolutely get another pair when/if these shoes kick the bucket.

I don't even know how long I have had my current pair. They are with me through my second marriage and they have seen crashes, water, mud, rocks, sand and although lighter in color and scuffed for the wear I have only replaced the inserts and the buckles. I am debating on getting a new pair, but only because my wife doesn't like the stinkiness. I ride without socks. They are that comfortable. $250 isn't cheap, but when I don't have to worry about them falling apart and they continue to last year after year, season after season, $250 is a bargain.

Most serious cyclists view shoes as their most important piece of equipment (almost all pros travel with them in their carry-on luggage for fear of losing them). I'm on my 3rd pair of Sidis and while expensive, they're well worth it: Durable, comfortable, efficient and easily adjusted as I'm riding. One trick I've learned is to soak the shoes in water before that first ride. The synthetic leather and straps become much more pliable, conforming to my feet for that perfect fit.
