52 month all conditions test
By bikeschenck
Ok, I ride in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY, commute via bike year round(yeah, with studded tires, the works) My motto is a bad day on a bike is better than a good day in a car. So, I have previously owned mostly Lake winter shoes for the past 8 years. They did a good job. Let me say that any winter bike shoe is NOT going to keep your feet warm past a couple of hours, at least my feet, even with 2 pair of socks. Having said that I've been VERY impressed with this shoe's warmth. I rode the Berryman Trail(mtn bike) in Missouri on Christmas day for 4 hours and it was 27 degrees. I had 2 pair of socks on(I sized up on this shoe as suggested) and my feet stayed mostly warm except for the end. PRETTY GOOD!!! I commute about 100 miles a week in all conditions(snow, rain, mud, ice), and after 2 months with the Mavic Drift, I can now say it is the BEST winter bike shoe I have ever owned. Not only pretty warm(with 2 pair of wool bike socks) but I've not gotten wet even riding in a pretty steady rain and getting constant road spray. I do cover the front of the shoes with toe booties too on the coldest days(single digits) and I get through my 1-1.5 hour commute in pretty good shape. The velcro closures do take a little getting used to, but the learning is quick, and I love the ease and snug feel once my foot is all snuggled in. I have Mavic summer shoes which led me to try these too. I love the Contragrip sole. Nice and grippy when I go into m work which has tile floor. No slipping worries there. After a VERY muddy ride last week, I just hosed off these puppies and they are ready to go again. They are a little lighter too than my old Lakes which is another bonus. I have no doubts after this 2 month trial that I'll be wearing this shoe for many cool/cold/muddy/rainy/icy rides to come in the future.

3Decent shoe for the money
By David Ramirez
I live in washington state, I know enough said. To make matters worse I live along the coast. So it rains a lot and I was hoping for a little better water protection. They are great on short rides of 15 miles or less, but anything much longer on a hard raining day and your feet will get wet. As far as your feet getting cold with two pair of socks my feet don't get cold. I have a wide foot and I had read they ran small so I ordered a size and a half bigger and that was perfect. I think if I lived in a different climate I would give them a strong 4 star rating
