Fantastic product, but order a .5 size larger then usual! Besides that the shoe is a great compromise between stiffness and comfort.

I have other mountain bike shoes but they don't come close to the comfort and durability of the Mavic Alpine. This is the first bike shoe I've found that fit my wide feet like they were custom made. They have excellent ventilation and the perfect amount of support and flexibility. Thanks Mavic for an awesome mountain bike shoe!

I was looking for a clip-less shoe for touring and the shoe had to be wearable off the bike and this shoe fits this function perfectly. There are a few issues you should be aware of,1) shoes are not built for wet weather, they soak easily and the mesh ventilation lets in cold air easily.2) There is no hard plastic shell securing the cleat receiver so when screwing in the cleat you need to put one hand into the shoe and press against the sole to gain leverage on it.3) I am also having an issue with my cleat disengaging far too easily however I did go with the sh56 cleat and I will be switching back to sh51.Other than that the shoe doesn't appear to have any defects in design that will affect comfort or functionality coupled with the low price and solid power transfer to the pedals i think its a winner. I will trying to update this review after my tour in May but if your buying this shoe for short rides and getting around town to run errands this shoe is winner...bike safe all..----Update 4/7/13The shoe is still a 5-Star shoe however I am having one issue with the product design. Because I clip out first with my right foot while pivoting to the left (i'm training myself to go right now) and the cranks chainrings and chain are on the same side I have experienced excessive wear on the shoes outside surface located by the heel where my shoe rubs against those previously mentioned objects i'll include some pictures hopefully pivoting to heel to the right with mitigate this issue. Previously I used Sidi dominators and they have a plastic shell cupping the outside heel so the shoe has held up fine over 15,000 miles however the Mavic is almost worn to the liner inside after less than a thousand.
